Slash then proceeds to find a cave and drags Winter into the cave.

Winter sits in the cave, shivering. She glances outside.

Slash gathers rocks and blocks the exit. He then lights a match and sets up a fire.

Winter looks at the rocks, then at Slash and sighs.

"You okay kid?" Slash asks without looking up from the fire.

Winter nods. "Yes... just cold," she answers.

Slash takes his handknit blanket out of his bag and drapes it around Winter's shoulders, "You're called Winter, but you can't take the cold."

Winter shrugs. "I was born in the first winter storm of that year. Anyway, I like my name," she says.

Slash nods, "A knife slit my ear in youth. I was once known as Clear," he takes a piercing out and reveals the slit.

Slash points to his whitish fur, "This is why. They wanted me to have a name that suited me. Though I was born in fall I was starting to white."

Slash lays down another blanket on Winter, "You need it." He throws a few carvings into the fire to spark it.

Slash pulls out a box, removes something, and puts the box away. He takes out a lighter and sets the thing's end on fire.

Slash flashes it really quickly then drops it and lets it burn, "Reminders. Of the past."

Slash pulls out his one and only notebook, or book for that matter, and starts scrawling notes in. He wasn't going to admit it's a diary anytime soon.
